The Modern Eclectic Powder Room

This powder room interior design project turns an ordinary powder room into a modern, contemporary, moody, glam spot that you’d want to be stuck in! It has a schoolhouse vibe but is lifted with beautiful light fixtures and a brushed gold onyx sink. I added wainscoting and capped the trim in black, and used that black on the doors, windows, and the baseboards framing the entire space.

The wainscoting is painted olive green and contrasted by adding an off-white wallpaper with blue Japanese Koi fish designs. I added a black vintage chair and a solid carved wood side table and kept an open-under-the-sink approach to retain that old-world glamorous feel. A small rug is added to catch any spilled water, and additional towels are placed on the wooden side table. Though natural light fills the spot until noon, I chose a dark cloth roman shade to soften the dark black window. The white oak floors naturally ground the room and altogether provide a beautiful mix of color in this eclectic powder room design.
